A Leader in Pediatrics Uses iAPPS to Brighten Children’s Orthopedics

In Colorado, and across pretty much the whole US, Children’s Hospital Colorado holds a reputation for being the best of the best when it comes to children’s medical care –  and not just because of their bedside manners. Children’s is constantly ranked as a premier center for medical research and educational programs as well.

“From conception to execution, Bridgeline helped us launch an interactive website that showcases our top-ranked care for bones, muscles, movement and more.” – Robin Doerr, executive director of marketing and communications at Children’s Colorado

One of the areas in which Children’s Colorado leads the nation is the Orthopedics Institute, one of the country’s only programs that truly integrates pediatric orthopedics, orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation medicine. It’s the comprehensive, even symbiotic nature of the institute that makes such a difference to this particular medical field, since most orthopedic conditions – if not all – require care from all kinds of pediatric movement specialists. All of that combined energy and unity of purpose brings an impressive rate of success, and constant achievement, to the institute.

Of course, it also brings a lot of progress, success, relief to its many patients, as it has for years.

Top of the heap

Being at the top of the heap in such an important medical need is one thing, but remaining appealing and attractive to the kinds of patients Children’s constantly hosts within its halls is something altogether different – something they looked to Bridgeline Digital’s Denver office to help them out with.

Children’s Hospital’s branding, as you might imagine, is centered on childhood. Bright colors, energized and moving content, lighthearted design – all of these bring a very-much-needed levity to what otherwise might be some pretty harrowing, heavy, limiting situations. The attitude follows that of the Hospital’s structural design, too – featuring buildings that dance with light, soothing colors, exciting and dramatic interior design and intriguing architecture. All of this is designed to keep the air around children’s sickness, injury and other conditions light, hopeful, positive and cheerful.

By the same token, young patients in the orthopedic therapy face the same potential gravity – and then some. Orthopedic conditions, whether congenital or as the result of an injury or accident, too often remain with patients for long periods of time – often for their entire lives. The Orthopedics Institute sought help from Bridgeline’s Denver team to help bring some of that same levity to their practice – while helping to establish a unique brand within the overall hospital organization – and Bridgeline Digital Denver delivered.

Bridgeline, with iAPPS, brought the power of easy CMS

Children's Hospital Colorado Orthopedics - Sports MedicineBridgeline created a brightly colored, dynamic, and interactive site on iAPPS Content Manager that represents a level of excitement, energy, and movement that patients can find in the Institute, and that infuses potentially heavy situations with more light.

The CMS behind the site, part of the iAPPS Product Suite, also adds a startling degree of ease to the maintenance of the site, and makes it possible for people in different departments, and with widely varying technical familiarity, to create, update and massage content – which keeps the information on the site fresh and appealing to both new and longtime visitors. The site also positions the Orthopedics Institute with some powerful thought leadership, both in the region and across the country.

Both patients and parents can find really valuable information on the new site with ease, and find themselves among experts in the field of orthopedics from the moment they visit – which has the potential to make the experience much more palatable, and much less fearful, confusing or upsetting (and more than likely they’re already swimming through an overwhelming whirlpool of information and emotion.

“Based on our goals, Bridgeline developed the concept, design and architecture for a website that captures the essence of our Orthopedics Institute,” says Robin Doerr, executive director of marketing and communications at Children’s Colorado. “From conception to execution, Bridgeline helped us launch an interactive website that showcases our top-ranked care for bones, muscles, movement and more.”

And, we hope, we’ve helped make a calamitous and often overpowering situation a little more light, while we’ve helped to show off the Children’s Hospital prowess to many more generations.
