eMarkter's latest Retail Roundup has plenty of astounding eCommerce numbers to digest. But perhaps most jaw-dropping, was the growth of Mobile Commerce. According to the report, by the end of 2013, US retail mCommerce sales will grow by 68.2%, reaching $41.7 billion.
Considering smart device adoption rates, the growth, while impressive, does make sense. Pew Research Center’s Internet & American Life Project reported that 56% of American adults are smart phone owners and 34% of adults own a tablet. And going one step further, conversion rates show the likelihood of smart device users buying a product or service is greater than that of a traditional desktop. Don't get us wrong, these developments are still (relatively) new. Monetate reported that Q1 of 2013 marked the first time conversion rates on tablets exceeded desktops.
